This guide is unique in bringing together for the first time the full range of services offered by Sitra. The housing with care and support sector is undergoing a period of change, and Sitra recognises that there are distinct policy streams impacting on members of the sector. In order to provide an alternate pathway to accessing Sitra services we have broken down our services into relevant policy directions. The five key areas we have looked at are:
- Localisation and Regionalisation – Supporting People in the Local Community
- Personalisation – Increasing service user choice
- Commissioning, Procurement and Partnership
- Laws and Regulations
- Managing and Delivering Quality Services

Livability have launched a campaign to improve disabled young peoples opportunities and choices as they move from childhood to adulthood. The campaign follows their report Freedom to Live which identified that 40% of disabled young people aged 16 – 24 live in accommodation that does not meet their needs.
The vast majority of disabled young people have little or no choice over where they live, who they live with and how they spend their time. They are denied the freedom to live their life.
Report and campaign available from www.livability.org.uk
The unions have submitted a claim for 6% or 50 pence per hour, whichever is the greater. A response from the employers is expected in the coming weeks. Please check back for updates.
